Known mainly for its active component Curcumin, which is a natural anti-inflammatory, turmeric can be used to increase joint function, support gastrointestinal health and may even help support dietary carbohydrate utilisation.

In patients using Curcumin on a daily basis, time to fatigue during treadmill tests increased, as well as causing a simultaneous reduction in perceived pain in almost all participants.

Those being tested for the benefits of curcumin reported they felt less pain, could walk further and their general joint mobility was also improved when consistent daily supplementation was adhered to.

In conjunction with its healing properties of joint pain and inflammation reduction, turmeric and more specifically Curcumin has also been linked to improved digestive health and furthermore, it has been shown to increase glucose sensitivity, meaning you can tolerate carbohydrate consumption far better as well.

Individuals using any blood thinning medication are advised to consult with their doctor prior to consuming Turmeric in large doses, as it does contain salicylates, which are proposed as being natural blood thinning agents.
