HASTA, Human and Supplement Testing Australia, is the only Australian laboratory able to provide independent certification of sports supplements by testing for WADA-prohibited substances.
This certification requires a significant commitment from the manufacturer. It requires formulation reviews and verification of the product manufacturing sites' quality assurance and GMP systems.
If you are a tested athlete, you know the importance of certified sports supplements. Nutrition Warehouse has a wide range of Hasta-certified products and brands, including Body Science, Genetix Nutrition, Dr Hydrate, Pure Sports Nutrition, Gen-Tec and much more!
When you are an athlete, you will unexpectedly undergo rigid drug testing, and taking the chance to fail is no option. Having safe certified supplements you can trust is a high priority, and that’s where HASTA certification comes in. This certification makes it easier for athletes to identify batch-tested products that are safer for them to use.
Once a supplement is HASTA Certified, every batch must be tested. You’ll need to look out for the HASTA Certified logo seal on the pack to identify a certification. You can also search for your product on the Hasta website or the Sport Integrity app.
Many professional and non-professional athletes are familiar with the risk of accidental contamination of raw materials or cross-contamination during manufacturing. The peace of mind that comes with a HASTA-certified supplement is invaluable. HASTA-certified products provide a reliable solution, allowing you to consume supplements with confidence and safeguarding your career.
To succeed, it is important to stay ahead of the competition, and sports supplements may be an important part of your training regime. However, contaminated supplements can undo many years of training and dedication.
How does a sports supplement get Hasta certified?
When a brand wants one of its products to be Hasta certified, it must provide a batch of the desired product to be tested against 250 WADA-prohibited substances. Each sports supplement batch must be tested before the Hasta certification sticker can be used on the packaging.
How can I tell if a sports supplement is Hasta-certified?
Hasta Certified products can have the Hasta Certified seal on the pack. This makes it easier for athletes to identify batch-tested products that are safer for them to use. Look out for the Hasta Certification logo on packs, search for your product on the website, or look up the Sport Integrity app before you consume any supplement.
What is WADA?
Established in 1999, The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is an independent international agency that collaborates worldwide to ensure doping-free sports. WADA was created after a major cycling doping scandal in 1998. In 1999, WADA was established to protect athletes, promote the values of clean sport, and preserve the spirit of the sport internationally.
How often is the WADA Prohibited List updated?
Every year, WADA releases a list of prohibited substances. You can find the list here. The list is updated at the latest on October 1st and comes into force on January 1st of the following year. However, changing the list more than once a year is possible. WADA must communicate the changes at least three months before they come into force.
