New kid on the block
Posted on December 3rd, 2010
To the customers I am yet to meet I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself. My name is Dean and I am one of the new team members at Nutrition Warehouse. I am currently working out of our new Lutwyche store but can also be found at Greenslopes or Underwood from time to time.
Sporting History
All my life I have played soccer, starting at the age of 4 playing in the Dalby under 6’s league until 2 years ago when I decided to leave the game at the age of 21. In the 18 years that I played I was lucky enough to represent both my state (outdoor) and be selected for my country (futsal). At the age of 16-17 I was also asked to trial in the UK for a semi-professional club, however my time and opportunity was cut short due to injury.
Since leaving soccer I have found a new passion in working out and am entertaining the idea of competing in the years to come.
Qualifications
I recently completed my 4 year degree, graduating with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement studies. I am also a certified level 2 strength and conditioning coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association. My most recent work in this field was as a student Assistant Athletic Performance coach at the Brisbane Broncos for the entirety of their 2010 pre-season preparation, which was an awesome experience.
The Future
Nutrition Warehouse is the future. We have an awesome team here, filled with past and present athletes, great knowledge, the highest quality supplements and cream of the crop customer service. I am loving my time here and I can’t wait to see what the months to come will bring.
Come in and pick my brain, talk training, nutrition and supplementation. Hopefully you will leave with not only the most suitable products for your goals but also some extra knowledge in this massive world of training and nutrition.

My Journey as a Natural Bodybuilder – Tyson McCrea
Posted on July 12th, 2010
Part 1
The beginning of a bodybuilder: Story of Tyson McCrea, Mr Queensland & Nutrition Warehouse Store Manager Greenslopes QLD
My journey all began when I was 14years old, when my family and I were moving from Adelaide, South Australia to a small place in Queensland called Caboolture.
My mother decided to drive, so my sister and I could experience some of the sights that Australia has to offer, Although I didn’t think it at the time it was a very fortunate decision and one that would shape my future. It was on this journey that myself, a young kid that had always been into martial arts and maintained a small and chubby physique in appearance all through primary school and had just began high school, was introduced to what I began calling the bible. This Bible was also known as Flex magazine.
I went into a newsagency to buy some sort of magazine to keep me entertained for what was going to be a 27 hour drive, which had been broken up into a week or so. As I was looking through the store an elderly man working at the newsagency picked up a magazine and handed it to me saying “here young man you could definately use this”. Without even looking at it I just said “Thanks”, and walked away. Little did I know it was the first important step in a lifetime journey.
As I got back into the car I began looking through the pages of the magazine, reading every supplement review and advertisement that I saw, I was amazed by the physiques I was seeing and said to myself, “this is what I am going to look like”.
Check back next week for part 2

My Road to Fight Time!
Posted on July 5th, 2010
August 7th will be fight time and I will be logging my preparation for the fight here for anyone that is interested in having a read and maybe even learning something that they can apply to there own training and supplement usage.
My day starts at 5:30am when I wake up and get ready to start my morning session. I train on an empty stomach. 30 minutes before I commence the session I consume 5 grams of Genetix Acetyl l Carnitine with my chosen pre-workout which at the moment is Genetix N.O Rush. The reason I add the acetyl carnitine is to increase the fat burning potential of my workout. I will also consume a second serving of acetyl carnitine during the day, usually with my flavored amino acid supplement Revive. During the session I will sip on my flavored branch chain amino acids, I am currently using Genetix Nutrition Revive and love it. Following my session I will have a WPI shake in water with 30 grams glyco-load. Genetix Glyco-load is a form of carbs, this will ensure I get sufficient glycogen replenishment and leave me with enough fuel to train again in the evening. My morning session is circuit based and a mixture of boxing drills and strength training exercises that lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. My afternoon sessions consist of technical training, heavy bag drills and sparring. My training frequency changes by the week due to my busy lifestyle but I try to ensure that i train five days minimum. This week I will increase my cardio and road runs and attempt to train twice a day for at least 3 of my training days. Nutrition wise I consume 5 small meals a day which consume of oats, lean meat, cottage cheese and an avocado a day for my healthy fats. I am on track with my training at the moment and already sitting at 69kg which is my ideal fight weight and the cut off point for the Super Welterweight division.
