Real Opinions, In-Depth Reviews: Gaspari Nutrition Size-On Pre Contest

Posted on October 31st, 2011

Gaspari Nutrition is a well known supplement brand, but doesn’t necessarily have the dedicated following that more anabolically dedicated supplements like Jack3d or Xtend have. This is a niche offshoot of Gaspari’s more popular, more established SizeOn, but is quite well regarded for its purpose of maintaining a lean, ripped shape in the lead up to contests or just regular cutting cycles. It is also good for bodybuilders who are especially insulin sensitive, because f the reduced carb formula. It’s a fantastic product that suits many people well, but has a more niche audience than the original SizeOn. Today we check out what people really think about SizeOn Pre Contest – no holds barred.

Effectiveness

SizeOn Pre Contest is a creatine blend, designed to help maintain your energy levels intra-workout and improve muscle performance … and almost every review we checked was very enthusiastic about the results. Bodybuilders are saying it gives them he drive and the energy to perform more, lift heavier, go harder in general. Even swimmers have been reporting great effects from SizeOn Pre Contest as an intra-workout supplement.

Water Retention

You always get a little waterweight along with creatine, and Gaspari’s SizeOn Pre Contest is prone to it as well – though not as much as some other blends, according to reviews.

Taste and Mixability

SizeOn Pre Contest scores about the middle of the range for taste and mixability. Reviewers have said that it is easy to drink but always a little grainy unless you spend a lot of time mixing it. Using a blender seems to overcome this drama. However, other reviewers say that it has an artificial sweetener-type taste, or a taste like alcohol, which could be due to the type of sweetening agent used. Orange Twist was the most popular flavour mentioned by reviewers.

Thirst

Quite a few reviewers mentioned that this bodybuilding supplement increased their thirst. You can either dilute the formula, or simply chase your shaker with a jug of water.

Side Effects

Here’s where SizeOn Pre Contest loses some of its loyal fans. We see a few reviews where people have experienced a range of gastrointestinal upsets – some get gas, some get bloating, some get a heavy feeling in the gut along with nausea. Some mentioned a faint (ahem) odour,  and others said they got bubbly burps. However, the reviews seemed split around 50/50 regarding gastrointestinal side effects – so if you’re the type with a relatively strong stomach, SizeOn Pre Contest is definitely worth a shot because of the awesome effectiveness.

Gaspari SizeOn Pre Contest is not a bodybuilding supplement that is without downsides. In fact, the original SizeOn is much closer to that ideal, with the carbs left in the formulation to help with both taste and mixability. However, the effectiveness of the supplement makes it well worth a shot if you’ve got iron guts to match your biceps of steel!

Back to Basics With Creatine

Posted on September 21st, 2011

One of the first bodybuilding supplements that most of us became expert with was probably creatine. This essential protein fuels anaerobic muscle work, helping create ready energy to lift harder and for longer. You probably already have a favoured creatine supplement, you’ve got your dosing regimen all worked out and have settled on a favourite flavour! But what do you really know about the creatine in your supplements? Today we get back to basics with creatine.

How Does Creatine Work?

Creatine helps give you the energy to contract your muscles at a higher level and for longer, helping to induce anabolism. It works like this:

  • ATP, adenosine tri (3) phosphate, is the chemical which almost all body cells use to provide energy for their work
  • In a muscular contraction, the ATP is broken down into adenosine di (2)-phosphate (ADP) plus a free phosphate
  • Phosphocreatine in the muscle can quickly supply the extra phosphate needed to build ADP back up into ATP
  • This reaction is sped along by the enzyme creatine kinase (CK).
  • More creatine in the muscle means more available phosphate, needed to provide energy for muscle contractions.

Where Does Creatine Come From?

If you are not taking creatine, you need to replenish your stores either through your diet (red meat, being animal skeletal muscle, is a rich source of creatine) or by biosynthesis.

Your body makes creatine from the amino acids l-arginine, glycine and l-methionine. In non-bodybuilders (ie, people not taking creatine supplements!), about 50% of the daily requirement comes form biosynthesis, and 50% comes from diet.

Do Creatine Supplements Have Side Effects?

In the past, it was thought that because extra creatine in the muscle draws water into the muscle by osmosis, creatine may affect heat tolerance. It was also thought that it could affect hydration status, cause diarrhea and muscle cramping.

However, Lopez et al (2009) found in their study “Does creatine supplementation hinder exercise heat tolerance or hydration status? A systematic review with meta-analyses” that there were no adverse effects. The results were echoed by Dalbo et al (2008) in “Putting to rest the myth of creatine supplementation leading to muscle cramps and dehydration”.

One positive effect of creatine supplementation in those whose diets are lacking (usually vegetarians), is that it has been found to improve cognition … yes, creatine can make you smarter, if you aren’t getting enough! Vegetarian or vegan bodybuilders will get this benefit at around 5g/day of creatine.

Creatine supplements are one of the base, most essential bodybuilding supplements. They are safe, pretty cheap and scientifically advanced … so if you aren’t already taking one, get on the site and see what they’ll do for you!

Real Opinions, In-Depth Review: Muscle Warfare Napalm Extreme

Posted on July 27th, 2011

Soon, you too will “Love the smell of Napalm in the morning”, as the manufacturers of Muscle Warfare Napalm Extreme say! It’ll begin to smell like victory, alright. Most reviewers who’ve tried this popular bodybuilding supplement find that victory over the barbell, the dumbbell and their own limitations gets to be a little addictive. Muscle Warfare Napalm Extreme is one of those rare supplements that works just as well as the marketing hype. However, like everything that works exceptionally well, it also has drawbacks. Today we check out what the real people who’ve tried Muscle Warfare Napalm Extreme think of it.

RRRRAAAWESOME Energy!

Napalm Extreme is a pre-workout supplement designed to help you do great things in the gym … and it sure smashes that goal. People note that they get a whole-body type of pump after working out with Napalm, even when they’re only focusing on their lower body. Even for people who have hit the bodybuilding supplements hard, and may have stopped reacting to some after overuse, reports are that Napalm Extreme gets them going every time. Both energy and endurance are noted to be high … so just watch your technique to avoid overlifting and sustaining an injury.

A Little Caffeine-Heavy

Some people feel the buzz from Napalm Extreme as a little caffeine-heavy – jittery, rather than a body-type of energy. If this happens to you, try cutting down your dosage a little.

After Effects Not to Be Messed With

However, like many truly effective bodybuilding supplements, you’ll notice the absence of Napalm Extreme once it has gone from your system. Some people experience it as an energy crash, some people get emotional after taking it, some people reported nausea. Some reviewers noted that if they were already in a bad mood before taking Napalm, this would be exacerbated by the supplement. However, there were other reviewers who simply didn’t notice the after-effects! The only way to know how you’ll react is to try it yourself.

If your lifestyle and metabolism can handle working out in the evening, you might want to schedule your Napalm Extreme shake to wear off at about bedtime … voila, pump without side effects! Remember though, that you may well be one of the reviewers who simply doesn’t get the after-effects.

Taste, Mixability, Presentation

The colour of Napalm Extreme changes when it’s mixed with water, from red to purple to blue – a very neat effect! This little trick of presentation isn’t a cover for poor taste or a lumpy mix, though – most people rate taste and mixability for Napalm Extreme at around 7 to 8 out of 10. We stock both the Grape Splash and Fruit Punch Blast flavours, which are both well-reviewed, although some people report a slightly chemical taste. Other reviewers found the taste cloyingly sweet – if this is the case for you, just dilute it a little more.

You may need to let it sit for a while to dissolve and scrape the sides of your blender to improve mixing.

Restrain Yourself!

Many reviewers advise not to take Napalm Extreme before every workout – just when you need an extra pick-me-up to give your best. People often say that they don’t want to work out without it – so go easy on Napalm right from the start!

Real Opinions, In Depth Reviews: Muscletech Hydroxycut Hardcore

Posted on July 25th, 2011

Muscletech supplements have been around for a while, with several reformulations and ingredient updates under their belts. Muscletech Hydroxycut Hardcore is one of those fantastic supplements that, when you are taking it, you don’t have to guess whether it is working or not … you can feel it! There’s nothing that makes me more edgy than taking something that mostly seems like a placebo – Muscletech Hydroxycut Hardcore is definitely not one of those. This is a fantastically effective product, but is definitely geared towards certain goals and certain physiologies. Today we check out what real people think of both the ups, and downs, of Muscletech Hydroxycut Hardcore.

Energy Without Aggression

The reviewers are pretty clear that Hydroxycut Hardcore is effective at increasing energy. In fact, a few reviewers noted that if they didn’t exercise while on Hydroxycut they started feeling jittery and restless. So, it not only gives the energy, but also the motivation to exercise!

Be aware that the energy comes from caffeine and other stimulants, so don’t time any of your Hydroxycut doses for after 5 or 6 pm – it’ll impact on your sleep and therefore your muscles’ recovery.

Gets You Hot and Sweaty

Almost everyone that tries the product notes how much it makes you sweat. An increase in sweating should obviously be expected with a thermogenic product – if your stored energy is being burned to raise your body temperature (thereby helping you lose weight even while at rest), your body will sweat to try and reduce that temperature! These comments seem to come mostly from people who haven’t tried thermogenics before; however, others feel that

Drink Plenty of Water, Make Sure You Eat

Reviewers note that they need to drink plenty of water in conjunction with HydroxyCut Hardcore. Those that fail to drink at least 3 to 4 litres of water per day (and more if you’re working out), seem to experience more intense side effects and far more negative side effects. The nausea, tiredness, racing pulse and low blood pressure that some reviewers experience on the product are all closely linked to dehydration. Be aware that your water needs will increase substantially on HydroxyCut, and you can make it work for you!

The same applies to nutrition. There are appetite suppressing ingredients in HydroxyCut. However, if you dose optimally and make sure that you eat to a schedule, you’ll get far better results from it. You should be taking your dosage before meals, also.

Build Up Your Dose

Lots of reviewers found that the standardised dose didn’t work for them. One smart reviewer suggested starting with an absolute minimal dose, and working your way up from there – this would also be our recommendation to help avoid any crashes or dehydration, and to help you maintain sleep and therefore recovery.

Supplement Spotlight: Fat Burners

Posted on July 8th, 2011

If you’re looking to go from just being big, to also being strong and ripped, you probably know that you have two tasks ahead of you. You’ll need to first lose the fat overlaying your muscles, and secondly build those muscles up. We have discussed the idea of losing fat at the same time as gaining muscle before in posts, and found that it is far smarter to focus on either one or the other first. While we often recommend focusing on the muscle gain first, and allowing your increased metabolic rate to take care of the extra flab, for some people this just doesn’t suit. If you like to take care of ‘first things first’, and want to lose the weight before building the muscle, you’ll want fat burning supplements. Today we check out the different types.

Fat burning supplements

Thermogenic Fat Burners

Thermogenic fat burners work by slightly raising your set point body temperature. It takes extra energy to create extra heat in your body, and that energy comes from your fat stores. As long as you don’t put too many Big Macs in along the way! There are heaps of thermogenic fat burning supplements that come packaged with other goodies to help with the cutting part of your cycle in preparation for competitions. The principle has been around for some years now and is accepted as a sound concept scientifically – though the medical application is usually in reducing heart disease risk or helping alleviate symptoms of type 2 diabetes.

Thermogenic fat burners may activate adrenergic receptors, thyroid hormone receptors or growth hormone receptors. They may also inhibit glucocorticoid receptors. Common ingredients that stimulate thermogenesis include ephedra (ephedrine), capsicum, ginger, guar gum and pyruvate. Caffeine is another thermogenetic substance.

If you have naturally high blood pressure, you’re under 18 or over 65, or are pregnant or nursing, thermogenic fat burners pose more risks than potential benefits for you. However, other fat burners could help …

Carb Blocking Fat Burners

Fat comes from excess calories. Wouldn’t it be good if you could somehow just block your body from uptaking all those extra calories in a cheat meal? Chitosan is a common ingredient in carb and fat blockers, and it has the potential to absorb around 6 to 10 times its weight in fat in its passage through your digestive system, which then comes straight out the other side.

However, the Mayo Clinic has found that you need to have fairly high doses of the carb blockers for them to be effective. This is definitely not a supplement to skimp on, if you’re going to use it as part of your fat loss routine.

L-Carnitine

Its name sounds like an amino acid – probably because it is synthesised from methionine and lysine. L-carnitine helps transport fatty acids into cell mitochondria during lipolysis.

L-Carnitine can be a fantastic fat burning supplement, but in order to utilise the large doses you’re getting, you still need to encourage your body to use lipolysis for energy rather than glycolysis. Combine L-carnitine with a thermogenic fat burner containing epinephrine to encourage lipolysism, or alternatively you can use a diet such as Atkins to maximse the effect of L-carnitine.

This supplement is not necessarily effective for everybody – individual metabolic processes mean that it is extremely effective for some people, not very effective for others. Give it a shot – if it doesn’t work, go with a more widely applicable thermogenic fat burner.

Real Opinions, In Depth Reviews: Dymatize Elite Whey

Posted on June 27th, 2011

The Dymatize Elite range has been incredibly popular all over the world, with many bodybuilders and athletes staying with Elite proteins for years on end. It’s a fantastic all-rounder, great quality, and inexpensive if you buy it in bulk. It is one of the few protein powders to make it onto mainstream review sites … and with high ratings as well! However, today we’re not aiming to sell Dymatize Elite Whey. We’re aiming to give you a balanced view of the product, and let you know what the ‘real’ people taking Dymatize think of it. If you have an opinion to add, feel free to add your info in the comments!

What’s In Dymatize Elite Whey?

It’s a blend of whey protein isolates and whey peptides, as well as a proprietary digestive enyme to help cut down on the gas and bloating. Here’s the bare facts:

  • Calories per serving: 117
  • Fat: 2g
  • Protein: 24g
  • Carbs: 2g
  • Sodium: 75mg
  • Ingredients: Both whey protein isolates and concentrates, though isolates are more prevalent. Dymatize Elite Whey contains milk and soy, as well as an artificial sweetener, acesulphame potassium.

Some reviewers would have liked to see hydrolysed whey isolates in the product. We believe that this would only have caused trade-offs with pricing.

Mixability

Most reviewers have found Dymatize Elite Whey to be easily mixed, if a little thin in texture at times. However, the thinness is easy to get used to when you have the luxury of no clumping, no grittiness, no foaming and no residue!

Taste and Flavours

Taste is a pretty individual thing, especially when it comes to things which are hard to make taste good … like protein powders! However, Dymatize has done a great job on the taste of Elite Whey; the basic chocolate flavour is highly recommended by most reviewers. The vanilla and berry flavours also available in Australia are seen as a good break, but not necessarily the best of the bunch.

Overseas buyers have access to other flavours like mint chocolate, butterscotch pudding and more. They sound delicious, but almost everybody mentions that there is a bit of an artificial aftertaste to Dymatize Elite Whey – a taste which works quite well with some flavours, and not as well with the more exotic ones. So we aren’t missing out on much!

Recovery

Most reviewers say they notice a difference in recovery when going from other brands of whey protein concentrate to this isolate/concentrate blend … but no massive difference in the bank balance.

Gas and Bloating

Some people complain about gas and bloating with Elite Whey, and it can certainly be an issue with some products. Try cutting down your serving size a little and mixing with water instead of milk. If you still get gas and bloating while on this formula at a lower dosage, you may just need to try a different product.

Pricing and Value

By now you have probably picked up on the fact that at Nutrition Warehouse, we measure value by results, not by the cost per serving of a bodybuilding supplement. However, Dymatize does well on both counts – people see real increases in size and strength, and the per-serve price remains very competitive at just over $2.

Most reviewers mention how long Elite Whey keeps you full for – this is another aspect of its value.

Elite Whey is a great protein staple that has been the longest relationship of many bodybuilders!

Real Opinions, In-Depth Review: Labrada Lean Body Energy Bars

Posted on June 24th, 2011

Looking at the ads for Labrada Lean Body Energy Bars, many people dismiss them as ‘treat food’ wrapped in a bodybuilding supplement package. With flavours like triple choc peanut, white chocolate peanut butter and rocky road, all double dipped in their coatings, it’s difficult to see how they could fit into a weekly workout routine without sabotaging all your good work. At Nutrition Warehouse, though, we’ve found that this is a stand-out product for taste, protein content, essential fatty acids and calcium. Today we aren’t going to give you a sales spiel though – instead we’re looking at what real customers think of Labrada Lean Body Energy Bars.

Bodybuilding supplements

What’s In Labrada Lean Body Energy Bars?

Here’s the main features of the nutrient and ingredient profile:

  • Calories per bar: 330
  • Protein per bar: 21g
  • Total fat: 16g; Saturated Fat: 8g. The saturated fat level is 42% of your daily requirement,
  • Sodium: 240mg
  • Total carbohydrates: 26g, with 3g of those from dietary fibre and 16g from sugars.

Compared to other bodybuilding bars, these are definitely designed for those who need to gain weight, not lose it. The protein content is similar to AST Vyo-Pro Protein Bars – they have 20 grams of protein, but only 1 gram of sugar.

Nutrient Profile?

As you can see above, these energy bars are not for everybody. If you’ve got a caloric deficit going, they’ll be fantastic – plenty of protein along with plenty of energy. If you’re just looking for a protein bar, and need to keep your calories down for fat loss – keep searching.

Remember though, that Labrada Lean Body Energy Bars are more transparent about their ingredients and nutrient breakdown than many other protein bars are. It’s difficult to compare the nutrient profiles of two bars, when only one tells you what is in it!

TASTE!

There’s no doubt though, that Labrada bars are one of the tastiest ways to get extra calories and protein into you! You’ll find other protein bars with similar protein content, but lower fat and sugar levels. But you just won’t find the awesome tasting flavours and real ingredients that are in the Labrada version. Reviewers also love the texture of the bars, and the fact that they have so many real peanuts included. We get sick of feeling like everything we eat has been broken up into its components, mixed around, jiggled a bit and blenderized to a smooth paste for consumption. It’s good to have some crunch!

Absorption

You’ll need to keep in mind that the absorption of the protein in Labrada Energy Bars don’t really match high quality whey protein isolates and specially designed protein supplements. You can’t necessarily count all of those grams of protein in your daily allowance.

Pricing and Value for Labrada Energy Bars

At around $5 a bar in Australia, Labrada Energy Bars are not priced like a chocolate bar.  However, the Labrada bars aren’t sized like a normal chocolate bar either – they’re at least double the width and length of a standard Mars Bar. They are a complete snack, not just an entrée to brunch or afternoon tea. You can consider them a meal replacement bar in some circumstances – and at around $5 for a meal, they represent awesome value.

Real Opinions, In-Depth Review: Isatori Isa-Test

Posted on June 22nd, 2011

Before there were iPods, iPads, iPhones and iSnack 2.0 … the original brand with a little ‘i’ and capital next letter! iSatori is quite a respected bodybuilding brand, with a strong focus on scientifically backed innovation, marketing that tells it like it is and a focus on great customer service. Sounds like an online bodybuilding supplement store I’ve heard of … ;-) . Today we check out what real people think of iSatori’s Isa-Test GF. Are those marketing claims as truthful as the company is telling us?

What’s In Isa-Test GF?

Isa-Test uses a proprietary compound called Somatrin to manipulate levels of all three anabolic hormones in the directions that you want – testosterone up, oestrogen down and human growth hormone up. In terms of nutrients, Isa-Test GF has:

  • 538% of your daily requirement of vitamin B6
  • 28% of your daily value of vitamin C
  • 182% of your daily value of zinc
  • 71% of your daily requirement of magnesium

Its ingredients include fenugreek, tribuls terrestris, eurycoma longifolia, grapeseed extract and the ISAflow nutrient delivery system. The somatrin compound contains nettle extract, macuna pruriens and melatonin.

Not Too Many Pills

The serving size for Isa-Test GF is just 4 pills, whereas there are plenty of other hormone boosters that require you to take up to 8 pills multiple times a day. Isa-Test GF is much easier to handle.

‘Performance’ Gains

Isa-Test GF has been notes to increased testicle sizes and libido, as well as ‘performance’ in the sack … both length of time and satisfaction level of said partner. Some people note that along with the libido and sexual function gains, they get a little aggressive. Many people start off on ordinary Isa-Test, and move to Isa-Test GF because of the improvements in mood it can bring.

Acne Comes Back

For some people, those performance gains are offset by acne. If you’re prone to acne from extra test, this will probably be your trade-off no matter what booster you choose, unfortunately. For some reviewers, the acne seemed to settle down by itself as the cycle of Isa-Test GF wore on; some people had to wait until they switched products or finished a cycle until the spots went away. Some people have been reporting acne in odd places like their thighs and glutes. Use a benzoyl peroxide cream to get all the test gains and ditch the acne along the way.

Fat Down, Water Down,  No Oestrogenic Effects

Some test boosters have the unfortunate side effect of also increasing oestrogen through a quirk of our biology. With Isa-Test GF, reviewers note that fat goes down and water retention goes down at the same time as testosterone effects are being noticed. Some people report weight loss while on Isa-Test GF – try to pay attention to your body, because we feel that any size drops are usually retained water being lost.

Wait For It…

Isa-Test GF might take a week or two to kick in. Definitely do not get disheartened – remember that Isa-Test GF is designed so that you don’t need to cycle it if you aren’t noticing any ill effects. Alternatively, you can use Isa-Test GF as part of your PCT for another test booster.

Supplement Spotlight: Acai Berry

Posted on June 10th, 2011

Have you seen the hype around acai berry lately? Everywhere you turn on the internet, an ordinary Mum or Dad (who just happens to be located in the same city as your internet service provider’s main servers) has lost 50 kilograms in 5 short weeks with acai berry! Unfortunately for many of us, unfounded claims in unrealistic advertisements that are often misusing celebrity names have given a poor reputation to a product that actually has a legitimate place in the bodybuilding supplement repertoire. Today we put the supplement spotlight on acai berry.

Acai berry

What is Acai Berry?

Acai berries are the fruit of the acai palm, a plant which is widespread throughout central and South America. They are small, purplish berries and around 80% of their volume is seed … which makes them time consuming to process yourself. Acai berries are used in ice cream flavourings, juice, as a sweetener in granola, etc.

What Does Acai Berry Do?

Acai berry doesn’t have a very noticeable biological action compared to other bodybuilding supplements, like nitric oxide or prohormones where you will actually feel their effects on your metabolism. However, acai berry is a very healthful fruit to use as part of your regular fruit intake, because:

  • Acai berries are one of the only fruits that contain omega-3 fatty acids. While omega-3 supplementation is of course possible, it is fantastic to get as much as you can from whole food sources.
  • Acai berries are extremely high in fibre, helping with digestion and cholesterol control.
  • Calcium and iron are relatively abundant in the acai berry compared to other fruits, so are a good addition to lactose intolerant and vegetarian diets … though certainly not a meat or milk substitute on their own.
  • Acai berries are rich in antioxidants, great for immune function and healthy aging.

How Should I Take Acai Berry?

Like most bodybuilding supplements, there is a variety of ways to take acai berry. You’ll get best bioavailability from acai berries that are as close to fresh as possible … however these are extraordinarily difficult to find in Australia. Juices, powders and pills are easy substitutes … and they mean you can get some of the fruit’s benefits without all of the sugar that comes along with it.

Take your acai berry:

  • In doses dependant on its form. Don’t eat extra health bars, drink extra glasses of juice or make up extra thickshakes to get your Acai berry in – simply substitute acai-containing foods for your regular ones.
  • In capsules, if you prefer the taste of other fruits. We stock a 6-capsule per day formulation, and you can take them either with or without meals.

Is Acai Berry Credible?

Acai berry does not do most of the things that the dodgy Google ads claim that it does. It won’t act  as a substitute for Viagra, nor as a male pheromone or love potion. It doesn’t reverse diabetes or multiple sclerosis. The fibre and omega-3 content mean that it can help with weight loss – but only as part of a calorie controlled diet.

Are There Side Effects from Using Acai Berry?

No, not unless you eat nothing but the berries for an extended period! Acai berries are just like blueberries or strawberries.

Will Acai Berry Definitely Work for Me?

Acai berry can definitely become a tasty, healthy part of your own diet.

Real Opinions, In-Depth Review: Dorian Yates Nutrition Formass

Posted on June 3rd, 2011

We can’t help it. It’s human nature. When we see somebody who is successful endorsing a product, we are far more likely to believe that the product works. Sometimes the product will work … sometimes it won’t. However, Dorian Yates Formass is a little different than the standard celebrity-endorsed “I use Centrum every day!” type product. Yates was intimately involved with the formulation of Formass, and has tested it extensively himself. We know that he honestly believes in it, and today we find out what other people think of it!

The Stats

Formass’s vital statistics are:

  • Serving size: 75g
  • Servings per container: 30
  • Calories per serve: 340
  • Protein per serve: 25g
  • Carbs per serve: 44g (Sugars – 3g, Fibre, 3g)
  • Fat per serve: 7g
  • Sodium: 390mg
  • Potassium: 170mg

Good Lean Gains

It can be difficult to provide a balance between providing enough energy in a bodybuilding supplement, and not having every one who tales it melt directly into a blob of fat. This formulation has a unique blend of fats and proteins, with ingredients like waxy maize, maltodextrin, oat fibre and inulin (no, not insulin). The fat level is higher than other products, but the fats are MCTs and DHA, so they’ll do a lot more than just sit on your gut. Some people have noticed muscle gains without weight gains – this is usually dependent on the rest of your diet! Formass is generally regarded as a fantastic formulation for providing lean gains.

Not for Dieters

If you’re in the bulking stage, Formass will be a great base product. If you’re looking to both build muscle and lose fat, bookmark Formass for future reference, but don’t order yet. It has quite high carb and protein levels and can push daily calorie numbers a little high.

Delicious, Dorian!

Taste is another aspect of Formass that has been tweaked, tested and tweaked again until satisfaction reached! Reviewers of both Formass and Tempro (The protein blend from Tempro is used in Formass). Most people agree that all the work on taste testing was worthwhile.

Wash Your Cup Quickly!

A lot of people notice a residual smell in their shaker bottle or cup if you take too long to wash it after using Formass, so give it a quick rinse afterwards. Honestly though, if that is the only complaint …

Pricing

Generally, Formass is not seen as a cheap product – but it is a great value product for the care that has been taken with the formulation and ingredient selection. Remember – cr*p in, cr*p out. If you take supplements at the bottom of the price range, you’re more likely to be getting poor quality protein, unhealthy fats and less bioavailable ingredients.
