  Nutra-Life Organic Flaxseed Oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids of the omega 3, 6 and 9 groups including Alpha Linolenic (LNA), Linolenic (LA) and Oleic fatty acids, which are important for good health. Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids are necessary for the production of prostaglandins, hormonelike substances dervied from fatty acids, such as arachadonic acid which mediate a wide range of functions, such as control of blood pressure, contraction of smooth muscle, modulatoin of inflammation, healing and repair processes, the immune system, the body thermostat and calorie loss mechanisms.

  Essential fatty acids are necessary for healthy skin and hair, deficiency of these fatty acids may result in skin flaking, dandruff, thinning hair and brittle nails.

  Flaxseed oil is also used for its anti-inflammatory properties as a nutritional supplement in the temporary relief of arthritis. Their beneficial effects appear to be the result of the conversion of the Omega 3 fatty acids EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) to Series 3 prostaglandins (PGE3). These prostaglandins control the inflammatory process by blocking the pro-inflammatory Series 2 prostaglandins (PGE2) and leukotrienes.

High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) "good" cholesterol can assist the removal of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) "bad" cholesterol from the arteries and return it to the liver for removal. HDL is converted into bile salts, the mechanism by which the body controls cholesterol levels.
