Mr WORLD RETIRES .....

Early 2003 I received the news that the Nabba World Titles would be held here on the Gold Coast. This is the first time the World's would hit our shores as its usually in foreign countries including Europe, France, Italy and Greece where I won my World Title.

The thought of competition was once again in the back off my mind. Could I make a come back and take the title right here in my own town? Could I get back the body I once had? Could I actually have it in me to pull out all the stops and go for it? I asked a few close friends their opinion and most response's were “you've had your day buddy you’re too old now”. (I'm 35 now).

I love negative comments it inspires me to EXCEL and in late November just after my 35th Birthday I made the announcement I would be on stage come June 12th. So with just 6 months to the World titles I started training again.... Yes, my body was nothing like the former years. I had lost a lot of muscle mass and strength and even doubted myself I could do it.

I love a challenge and I pushed myself everyday. As I woke every morning I would look at the poster I had stuck on my fridge to promote the event, I knew on June 12th 2004 I had to be not as good as the past but BETTER. I wanted to shock not only myself but all that doubted me.

Well, It's all over now, the comp has come and gone and I am proud of myself. I did what I set out to do and more, plus I'm laughing at the everyone who doubted me and thought I was finished. I may be older but what they forgot is I'm wiser and stronger in mind and body then I have ever been before.

Unfortunately my 2nd World title was not to be, the guys who placed before me were outstanding and I take my hat off to them both. I did however win the overall Mr Queensland & Overall Mr Australia. No Australian beat me this year and I can walk away knowing I still have what it takes...HAPPY! Damn right I am.
